There’s No Other Place
Like It On Earth. Literally.

Carved from the walls of an abandoned water-filled mine pit on Minnesota’s Iron Range, Redhead offers outdoor enthusiasts an oasis of fun year-round. Located about three hours north of the Twin Cities, Redhead was designed with all skill levels in mind. A new pump track and skills course is the best in the state. And 27  miles of hand crafted, purpose built mountain bike trails are already on the ground with  more on the way.

Difficulty levels range from beginner to expert and include a wide array of terrain features and options for riders to test out their skills.A brand new trailhead facility is welcoming and practical, with a bike shop within walking distance and picnic tables/shade available. The 165-mile paved Mesabi Trail runs alongside this rec area, so bring all your bikes for a long weekend of cycling. Lodging and dining options in nearby towns like Hibbing, Virginia and Chisholm are varied. Camping is avilable onsite or in other communities around the region.

This rec area has a water feature you won’t believe: a 300-foot-deep mine pit lake that’s great for kayaking or taking a cooling dip. Minnesota Discovery Center, the region’s largest museum and site of multiple summer events and concerts, overlooks the whole site.
